Stimilon Motocross Challenge 2009

When we first arrived, the sun was out, and the Stimilon crew was setting up. Riders started pulling in and the pit filled up with Moto sounds, motor homes, and pit bikes. (Ya, pit bikes were allowed!) It was a treat. After setting up our tent area it was time to relax by our fire. (Fires were allowed, as long as they were covered and raised off the ground. We kept one going all weekend!)’,
The weather held up for the first night of the Stimilon Motocross Challenge.
Southwick, MA – MX 338.
Dave O of the Stimilon crew called it dead on in his twitter up date: “The sun is out bitches – it’’s time to get your Stimilon!” Reminding everyone not to let the threat of rain f-up a sick day on the track. It ended up being a great weekend: wet at times, but not a problem.

The night set in and the pit came alive.
Pit bikes and trucks cruised around the pit as we chugged (free) Colt 45 by our roaring fire. The pit had some really sweet rides and friendly people from all over. Many people we talked with had raced in the first Stimilon event ten years ago and were psyched that Stimilon was at it again!

There seemed to be plenty to do for everyone; the huge sound stage for the three-featured Saturday night bands was being used as a crazy guitar hero stage!!! If you were not into video games, there were plenty of vendors to talk with. I personally found the guy from Factory Connection to be very helpful with some questions I had about my suspension set up.
Moto-X 338’s sand covered and and elevated‚ track filled up with all sorts of racers and spectators. The lurking thunderstorms held off until the last two races. The anticipation grew, and the crowd gathered around the track to watch the last two races. Some suited up for the main event, and others equipped themselves with rain gear. Jokes from the commentators and some fireworks were muffled by loudly screaming spectators. The engines finally came alive and the riders blasted up the starting hill fighting for the hole shot. Fans held on the chain-linked fence waiting for the racers to fly by. Everyone began to cheer their buddies on as they stormed to the finish. It was a great day at the track with good weather and great racing. It was time to party with some Colt 45, a few burgers, a fire, and live music. Check Out Stimilon website for more information.
